In 1960, Ms. Sara’s heirs sold the residence to a group of people from Magallanes who constituted the Union Club with the intention of preserving the building. Thus, on August 8, 1960, the foundational act of The Union Club of Punta Arenas was signed, preserving and protecting until today this highly valuable historical heritage.
The building was declared National Historical Monument by Supreme Decree Nº9,256 of December 4, 1981, of the Ministry of Education.
